Do I have to pay sales tax? |

Yes, all orders are subject to 5% GST or 13-15% HST.
In August of 2004 the Canadian Federal Government came up with the brilliant assumption that dietary supplements include products such as vitamins, minerals, tonics, fibre, protein powders and herbal supplements may contain some essential nutritional elements but they are not considered to be basic groceries.
So in saying that they said products commonly described as dietary supplements are not considered to be basic groceries and, consequently, businesses that sell them are required to charge and collect the GST/HST when you sell these products.
We should have cried bloody murder when they made them subject to GST and basically when they introduced the HST it was too late.
So next time the government comes up with some new scheme put some thought into it because they are looking to screw you any way they can it's just how and when. |
